Financial Transparency

The information on this page is provided to give a sense of Steep Theatre’s financial operations. As a non-profit organization, Steep’s annual tax return is publicly available at Guidestar. If you would like additional information about anything here, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Income & Expense Budgets

The following charts provide a breakdown of operating income and expenses for the past three fiscal years. Steep’s fiscal year runs September through August. Capital contributions and grants restricted for future years are not included in this report. The COVID-19 shutdown began half-way through FY20, and Steep left its venue on Berwyn Ave at the end of FY20 - both of these events had a significant impact on operating financials, which will continue to fluctuate as COVID Relief funding ends, Steep establishes its new home venue, and production resumes with a focus on equitable artist compensation.

Vendor Demographics

In addition to compensating artists and employees, Steep purchases services and materials from a broad range of companies (vendors). Recognizing the impact of its spending power, however modest it may be, Steep prioritizes vendors that are local, non-profit, and/or led by women and/or BIPOC. The demographic information reported here is based on the best information available to Steep’s staff at the time that Steep’s annual vendor audit was conducted (1-3 months after the completion of the fiscal year).

The data reported here does not include payments made to individuals (employees, artists, or other independent contractors) because prior to the current year Steep did not have a mechanism in place for collecting self-reported demographic data from these individuals. This process is in place now, and this data will be reported for FY22 once the year is complete.
